Adopted by NSO's central board, February 3rd 2017
The National union of students in Norway strongly opposes the executive order (EO) signed by U.S President, Donald J. Trump stopping certain nationalities from entering The United States for a time period of 90 days.
The nations included in the EO are nationals from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Libya and Somalia. The ban affects students, professors, researchers and other academic staff travelling to the US.
Norwegian students cannot, and will not, accept any restrictions on academic freedom based on nationality, or in any other form.
We therefore ask the president to withdraw the executive order so all nationalities can participate in the global academic fellowship of which the United States is a vital contributor.
